Industry reconnects and reflects at Aquatic Industry Summit

Life Saving Victoria (LSV) virtually brought together key industry professionals and stakeholders at the Aquatic Industry Summit on Friday 29 October, to reflect on what has been the industry’s toughest year to date.

More than 1,000 people from all over the state tuned in live and viewed the Aquatic Industry Summit following its broadcast. It featured a panel of industry experts who presented on a range of relevant topics, including industry recovery after COVID-19, drowning statistics and critical incidents, water safety and industry innovations.

LSV general manager – public training and aquatic industry services Andy Dennis said the event was a great opportunity for colleagues to reconnect and plan for the upcoming year as the state exits lockdown.

“After an extremely challenging two-year period for our industry, the Aquatic Industry Summit provided our facility owners, managers, staff and other industry stakeholders a fantastic opportunity to discuss our learnings and how we can apply them as aquatic facilities reopen,” Mr Dennis said.

“By sharing ideas and working together, we can ensure that we continue to meet the highest safety standards so we can get Victorians back to the pool to learn valuable water safety skills.

“Thank you to everyone who tuned into our event, our panel of guest speakers for sharing their experiences and our sponsors for making it possible.”

The program included:

  • The Perfect Storm Continues with LSV CEO Catherine Greaves
  • 2020-21 Victorian Drowning Report with LSV manager research and evaluation Dr Hannah Calverley PhD
