Life Saving Victoria (LSV) has 27 fully funded scholarships up for grabs for its members and aquatic industry partners through the Governance Institute of Australia and Australian Institute of Company Directors.
The scholarships are an opportunity for members to take their next steps in leadership and develop their knowledge of not-for-profit governance.
The available scholarships are the highly coveted Certificate in Not-For-Profit Governance offered by the Governance Institute of Australia and the Governance Foundations for Not-For-Profit Directors with the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
LSV Director Anthony Neal completed an Australian Institute of Company Directors program in 2017, which helped him achieve his aspirations of joining a not-for-profit board, which he accomplished when he joined LSV’s board in 2020.
“I highly recommend the governance scholarships for anybody who wishes to be a part of the governance of a club, organisation or committee,” he said.
“It is a great investment in yourself to study with likeminded people who want to contribute to their communities in governance who are volunteering in governance roles across Victoria, and the lecturers tutoring you are world class leaders in their own right.
“The materials studied include contemporary case studies to examine examples where governance has both failed and succeeded and best practice governance standards and strategies, such as pre-empting future risks and separating your mindset from managing the business to leading its strategic direction.”
The Certificate in Not-For-Profit Governance is a package of six short courses covering the needs of professionals with varying degrees of governance responsibilities, while the Governance Foundations for Not-For-Profit Directors is a 1.5- day course giving an understanding of the compliance and performance related roles and responsibilities of directors.
To apply for either of the scholarships, visit LSV’s circular before applications close on 31 August 2021.
