Did you know…
LSV recently conducted its first fully virtual annual general meeting (AGM).
Historically, LSV’s AGMs have been held in person. However, with physical distancing restrictions in place at the time, LSV considered it best and safest to conduct this year’s AGM virtually. LSV’s constitution specifically allows for general meetings to be conducted by any available technology, provided it gives members a reasonable opportunity as a whole to participate.
Accordingly, the virtual AGM was conducted via Microsoft Teams and attended by more than 50 members from across Victoria. Participants adapted quickly and used both the ‘chat’ and ‘raise hand’ functions to ask questions and participate in the meeting.
With the technology running smoothly, LSV’s CEO Dr Nigel Taylor presented LSV’s Annual Report for the 2019/2020 year, and LSV’s Finance, Risk & Audit Committee Chair Mr Shane Dunne presented LSV’s Annual Financial Statements. Participants were able to see both the presentation, the speaker, as well as ask questions along the way.
In addition, LSV’s President, Mr Paul James ASM, was also re-elected as president for a further two-year term.
The LSV AGM is one of the key ways LSV discharges its duties under ACNC Governance Standard 2 to remain accountable to its members, as well as a requirement under LSV’s constitution.
The “Did you know…” section of eNews aims to help our members understand the broader governance framework and other governance initiatives conducted by LSV. Having best practice governance tailored towards our volunteers, social enterprise and emergency service operations is a core pillar and enabler of LSV’s mission to prevent aquatic-related death and injury in all Victorian communities.
