Life Saving Victoria (LSV) is proud to support a new national Surf Life Saving recruitment
campaign, “Our Club, is Your Club.”
The campaign, which launched on 10 November, invites people back into Life Saving Clubs highlighting the benefit that lifesaving offers its members and the community.
“As surf clubs re-open around the country for the warmer months, after what has been a very challenging year, we’re encouraging new and old members to join ‘our clubs’,” said Surf Life Saving Australia President Graham Ford AM.
“There is a place for everyone at the surf club, and everyone is welcome,” he added.
“There are a variety of roles both on and away from the beach for those who wish to volunteer, or our clubs are simply a place to gather and join with others, at the heart of local communities.
“Our surf clubs are more than just a building or a service; they’re a home, a family and we are asking all Australians to join us and make it ‘your club’ too.”
The Victorian element of the campaign emphasises the measures Life Saving Clubs are taking to keep the community safe; not only in the water but also by staying COVIDSafe. Social distancing and other COVIDSafe measures feature prominently.
“After a long and cold Melbourne winter in lockdown, our members are eager to get back out to clubs,” said LSV Manager Volunteer Support David Potter.
“We hope this campaign will invite new members to our clubs, and let current members know that it’s safe to get involved again,” he said.
“Our clubs are open, safe, and ready to enhance the lives of all who are a part of the lifesaving movement.”
Life Saving Clubs are hubs for the community, delivering more than just an on-beach safety service. Clubs offer training, education, recreation, and a place to socialise, giving members a sense of purpose and belonging.
The recruitment campaign has been launched nationwide with Surf Life Saving Australia and all states and territories collaborating to achieve one common goal – to let the community know: whoever you are, “Our Club is Your Club.”
