On Sunday 8th November the Victorian Government released their latest Statement and ‘Third Step’ roadmap, which included references to indoor and outdoor pools in the ‘Exercise and Recreation’ section.
From 9th November all indoor pools (including learn to swim activities), can now open to a maximum capacity of 20 patrons or the density quotient of 1 per 4m2, whichever is lower. There were no changes to outdoor pools made in the announcement, which can continue to open to a maximum capacity of 50 patrons or the density quotient of 1 per 4m2, whichever is lower.
From the 22nd November, all indoor pools can open to a patron cap limit of 50, ‘excluding supervisors’, or the density quotient of 1 per 4m2, whichever is lower and outdoor pools can open with no set capacity, but must meet the density quotient of 1 per 4m2, whichever is lower no capacity’
It should be noted that the usual pool capacity limits remain which should consider water quality, lifeguard to patron ratios, the building capacity set by the regulator and emergency evacuations.
There was some further welcome news for aquatic facilities that also operate dry facilities with indoor physical recreation back online, subject to a density limit of 1 patron per 8m2, a 10 person per space/session and 20 total per (dry) facility cap.
