To support the Aquatic Industry and LSV members, we are pleased to build on our professional development opportunities to a range of stakeholders. Many of the offerings are free or low cost and offer opportunities to upskill and build capacity both professionally and personally and broaden your network, empowering you to be your very best.

AFAR Ahead (August 2020 Onwards)

Following the success of the AFAR PD series during Lockdown 1.0, LSV is pleased to announce the continuation of this series providing FREE PD to industry personnel, which will move to a fast-paced monthly session.

The sessions will be held on the 2nd week of each month – commencing 12th August 2020.

The sessions will be divided into three streams:

  • 10am-10:30am – Safety & Operations 
  • 10:30-11:00am – Swimming and Water Safety Education
  • 11:00-11:30am – Leadership

Blue Connections

Blue Connections is Life Saving Victoria’s networking event series. It connects the broader Aquatic Industry, volunteer members, staff, emergency services, education, sport and Recreation sectors, and interested community members together each month to network, share, and grow through interactive professional and personal development workshops – currently being delivered by webinar.

Free Member Online PD and Mental Wellbeing Series

LSV are pleased to be offering a free 12-week personal and professional development series, delivered to you through Microsoft Teams

Leadership & skills development

These PD sessions offer short and sharp relevant topics across all areas of leadership and skills development in lifesaving each Tues and Wednesday evenings @ 7pm

Mental Wellbeing Mondays

LSV recognises that taking a holistic approach to mental wellbeing is more important than ever, this series will cover a range of topics to assist you in staying well and proactively looking after your wellbeing.

The mental wellbeing series will be delivered each Monday at 12pm with an aim to kick of the week on the right note.

Industry Master Classes

Master classes are coming in 2020!

LSV will be delivering a number of Master Classes, over the next 12-month we will be engaging some brilliant facilitators to bring to the industry half day workshops on topics such as High Performing Teams, Growth Mindsets, Critical Incident / Psychological First Aid and Creating Psychologically Safe Cultures.

These workshops initially will be delivered online, with the intent to deliver face-to-face both metro and regionally, with the opportunity to network and share.

Female Leadership Network

In June 2013, LSV launched the Female Leadership Network (FLN), with a mission to bring females from all facets of the organisation together to inspire and be inspired.

We hoped to encourage a cultural change by championing positive female role models, supporting female leadership and personal development and by providing females an opportunity to network and share. The FLN is open to all females over 18 and male champions, and provides development opportunities year-round through keynote sessions, leadership programs, networking events and scholarships.

Sam Dwyer will be hosting FLN Round Table #3 on August 6.  Sam will discuss the 4 Components of Emotional Intelligence – She will talk through which components can be developed and compensating for those that can’t.   This informal yet very informative and interactive chat with Sam, will provide you with an opportunity to ask questions and interact with other round table participants. 

Ready 2 Lead 2020:  Intermediate Female Leadership Development Program (online)

Program Commences:  Tuesday 19 August 2020 @ 7pm [1 x 1.5 hour approx. per week for 7 weeks]


Program Overview:

We are excited to announce the launch of Ready 2 Lead online, our intermediate female leadership program for 2020.

This program offering is for new and emerging leaders who are looking for new inspiration and ways to enhance their skills and attributes to both help develop themselves and the people around them.

Presenters for this program have been sourced to specifically meet the needs of LSV’s people and will provide participants with fresh motivation, new insights and skills to help excel and support them with their leadership aspirations.

The program will explore leadership style, personal profiling, change management, critical decision making, building female capacity, wellbeing – managing self and other and developing clever professional and personal learning strategies

Water Safety @ Home

Life Saving Victoria has developed a new ‘Water Safety @ Home’ online activity suite, to provide schools, industry, clubs and the community with interactive virtual resources to encourage the continuation of swimming and water safety education at home or in the classroom. These activities include new Swimming & Water Safety Toolkit resources; CPR & First Aid for Kids @ Home + Everyday Lifesaver App; Swimming @ Home; Nippers @ Home; and the Water Safety Watch & Learn video series.
