LSV Launch Facility Champions Program

As the lead advocate for industry training and safety, LSV are proud to launch a new training service for the aquatic and recreation industry called ‘Facility Champions’. The Facility Champions program leverages the structure and logic of the highly successful Service Member program but is geared towards facilities rather than individuals.

The program has been introduced to enable and support facility representatives to provide non-accredited training to both staff and community patrons. The program includes:

  • Pool Bronze Medallion
  • Lifeguard In-Service Training
  • Swim Teacher In-Service Training
  • Non-accredited Resuscitation and Emergency Care Training
  • Watch Around Water Training
  • SwimSafe Training

The program is a great way to effectively and efficiently deliver high quality in-service staff training consistent with the requirements of the GSPO, as well as professional development training such as the Watch Around Water and SwimSafe programs.

The program also offers a unique commercial opportunity to facilities, with awards such as the RLSSA Bronze Medallion or Emergency Care being the perfect addition to school groups or holiday programs.

The program has the objective of combining LSV’s resources / expertise with localised delivery and facility networks. Program benefits include i) course resources, ii) professional support, iii) discounts on merchandise, iv) equipment hire, v) networking events and vi) public liability insurance (limited to award delivery only). Those operating under the program are recognised LSV partners.

Although Facility Champions deliver non-accredited training, it is vital that they hold necessary training and award specific pre-requisites to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to deliver under the program. Facility Champions are required to hold at least one current ‘teaching pre-requisites’ from the list below, as well as all necessary ‘award specific pre-requisites’ for the award/s they intend to delivery.

Teaching Pre-requisites

  • VIT Registration / Bachelor of Education / Diploma of VET
  • Cert IV TAE Training and Assessment
  • LSV Train the Trainer Certificate / SLSA Training Officer Certificate
  • Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety
  • RLSSA Teacher of Lifesaving (under development)
