Mordialloc LSC dominated the competition to claim victory at the 2019 Victorian Senior Pool Championships, which took place on Sunday 8 September at Watermarc in Greensborough.
Ocean Grove SLSC placed second overall in what was their first year of pool competition, while Black Rock LSC rounded out the podium in third.
LSV Senior Event Coordinator Nicholas Metcalfe said the event was the culmination of a great season of competition.
“This season, we’ve conducted three senior pool carnivals, which ran both short course and long course formats,” he said.
“The final event saw approximately 110 competitors from 15 clubs across Victoria take part, and there were some outstanding performances, particularly from the top three clubs.
“I’d like to make a special mention to the athletes from Ocean Grove as this was their inaugural season of pool competition.
“To all the officials, timekeepers, equipment marshals and other volunteers who assisted at the State Championships and the carnivals, we sincerely thank you for your support and effort over the season.
“Thanks also to Barbara Morgan from South Melbourne LSC, who was the carnival referee for all senior pool carnivals this year.”
Nominations have closed for the Royal Life Saving Australia State and Development Teams, with members to be announced soon. The team will travel to Perth in early January to represent Victoria at the 2020 Australian Pool Rescue Championships.
