On Saturday June 1st, the state’s lifesaving youth members will have the opportunity to have their say on the future of the movement.
“This is a unique opportunity for our Youth Members from across the state to network and hear from the leaders and decisions makers from across lifesaving, sport and emergency services,” says Emma Atkins, LSV GM People, who has put together a packed program full of inspirational guest speakers, as well as visits from emergency services crews.
Matt Bevilacqua, Nutri-Grain Ironman Series Champion and 4 x M2O World Paddleboard Champion, will be flying down from the Gold Coast for a special guest appearance to motivate our youth members with his personal story and advice.
The new Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter – Lifesaver30 – will also be stopping by for a visit and youth members at the symposium will be able to see the new machine up-close, with a personal tour from the highly-experienced pilot and senior crew members.
The Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Drone Service crew will also showcase the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) Service and how it can benefit emergency services, and the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) will also be there!
The key areas of focus for the symposium are:
• What attracts young members and how can we do it better.
• Challenges, barriers and opportunities to remaining in lifesaving.
• Mental Health and how we can build resilience
• How can we assist youth members with current societal pressures?
• Innovation Challenge
There will also be great prizes available for the club with the most youth members registered for the day – more details to come!
Don’t miss this chance to learn from the best and be inspired in the off-season to take your lifesaving to the next level: register now.
Please note that there may be travel and accommodation allowances available for regional members. Please contact the Membership and Leadership Development team on email@example.com for more details.
