Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) was crowned champion at both the Junior and Youth/Senior 2019 Victorian Lifesaving Championships, staking its claim as Victoria’s premier sporting SLSC.
Ocean Grove SLSC dominated competition at the Youth/Senior Championships in Warrnambool, finishing on 662.5 points, well ahead of Jan Juc SLSC in second place on 349.5 points and Half Moon Bay SLSC on 293 points.
It was a tighter affair at Lorne in February, where Ocean Grove SLSC won the Junior Lifesaving Championships with 230 points, just edging out second placed Mornington Life Saving Club (LSC) on 219.3 points and third placed Mentone LSC on 168 points.
“Both events saw very strong competition from 31 clubs from around the state,” says Kirsty Clark, LSV’s aquatic sports manager.
“We congratulate all athletes and coaches from Ocean Grove SLSC, on a huge achievement in winning both the Junior and Youth/Senior Victorian Lifesaving Championships in 2019.”
“None of LSV’s competition would be possible without the dedicated team of volunteers both on and off the beach who work tirelessly to make sure the athletes can enjoy competing and catching up with friends”
“Thank you to everyone who made it such an enjoyable season of competition for everyone.”
