More than 790 youth and senior lifesavers will be travelling to Victoria’s south west coast to compete in the 2019 Victorian Youth and Senior Lifesaving Championships this weekend, hosted by the Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club.
“We’re very excited about hosting the LSV Youth Senior State Championships,” says Justin Houlihan, Warrnambool SLSC President. “For the last five years we’ve welcomed the juniors for their state championships over this public holiday weekend, now it’s our chance to showcase the region to the youth and senior club members.”
“Ocean Grove SLSC is the team to beat from last year, but we have seen fierce competition across the season and the predicted conditions will make it anyone’s game,” says Kirsty Clark, LSV’s aquatic sports manager. “One thing is certain – the events will be exciting to watch and hotly contested!”
The event is able to be put on thanks to the generous support of major event sponsor Engine, as well as Surf Life Saving Australia sponsor’s Westpac, DHL and Holden.
“None of it would be possible without the dedicated team of volunteers both on and off the beach who work tirelessly to make sure the youth and seniors can enjoy a great couple of days at the beach, competing and catching up with friends from clubs around the state,” says Ms Clark. “We wish everyone good luck!”
