Beaches, Inland Waterways and Pools; LSV Public Training and Pool Safety for schools

Community Surf Life Saving Certificate

Life Saving Victoria’s (LSV) Community Surf Life Saving Certificate is the ideal qualification for any teacher who is responsible for the supervision of students in an open water aquatic environment. Developed from the Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) Bronze Medallion (minimum award requirement to be a SLSA beach lifeguard), this active and engaging two day course is not only great for your professional development, but is an invaluable life skill which could come in handy when you least expect it.

Approved by the Department of Education and Training, this course focuses on student safety, surf awareness, rescue techniques, carries/supports and CPR. Whether you’re taking students on a beach excursion or leading a school camp, this is the course for you.

Inland Waterways Life Saving Certificate

Are you looking for further opportunities to add to your skill set and you currently supervise students in an inland waterway location? Enrol now in one of Life Saving Victoria’s Inland Waterways Life Saving Certificate courses. Inland waterways are statistically one of the most dangerous aquatic environments with the Murray and Yarra rivers being the first and third most deadly in Australia. In response to the high level of drowning incidents at this type of environment, this course was developed in partnership with RLSSA as a component of the National Respect the River campaign.

Pool Safety Assessments

Did you know that LSV provide Pool Safety Assessments for School Pools?

Pool Safety Assessments are designed to provide you with an overview of your facility’s performance against Industry standards and expectations. The Assessment is tailored to each individual facility based on the water spaces, special features and programs on offer.

The ‘safety assessment’ and ‘risk treatment plan’ provided will outline compliance levels and recommend practical solutions to identified risks including training to ensure your school pool is meeting best practice standards for the safest environment for your students.
