Victorian Lifesavers’ Final Round in the Pool this Sunday before Victorian Pool Lifesaving State Championships

Lifesavers from around the state will swap the beach for the pool this weekend, set to compete in the third round of the 2017 Victorian Pool Lifesaving Competition at WaterMarc in Greensborough this Sunday, 27 August.

Last year’s Pool Champions Mordialloc LSC will be the ones to watch, including several other favourites such as Williamstown S&LSC and Black Rock LSC (the club with the most competitors entered).

There will be 114 athletes from 19 lifesaving clubs from across Victoria expected to don their swimmers and compete this weekend in a variety of events including the Rescue Tube Race, Manikin Tow, Manikin Carry, Medley Relay and Rescue Relay.

LSV Director Aquatic Sports Rachael Rylance said she is looking forward to another great season with more clubs taking the plunge this year and making huge steps forward in the pool lifesaving circuit.

“The third round always brings out the best competitive spirits as it’s the last chance for teams to get through to the final state championships and it’s also a great way for lifesavers to sustain and increase their lifesaving skills all year round.

“Aside from the competitive element and pride at representing their clubs, these events aim to test lifesavers skills in rescue, accident prevention and emergency care; skills which may one day help to save a life.”
