Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull paid a visit to Jan Juc SLSC on 23 January, to meet and greet with club members and observe nipper training.
He was also joined by local Member for Corrangamite Sarah Henderson.
The Federal Government has contributed $2 million for a new clubhouse facility at Jan Juc, which is currently in the planning phase.
Mr Turnbull said he was thrilled the funding will support the reconstruction of the club.
“There is nothing more important than keeping everybody safe in the water, particularly at this time of year,’’ Mr Turnbull said.
“Surf lifesaving clubs like those here on Victoria’s surf coast represent great Australian values – egalitarian, selfless volunteer community service.’’
Ms Henderson said the new facilities will support the club’s great work for the community.
“The project involves the demolition of the existing facility and construction of a new multi-purpose community hub and lifesaving facility,’’ Ms Henderson said.
“Our lifesavers do such an important job protecting our beaches and saving lives.’’
Jan Juc SLSC has more than 850 members and has been servicing the community since 1963.
