Life Saving Victoria (LSV) is proud to have continued its support for the Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) Awards, which were announced at the industry gala on June 15 at the Peninsula Docklands.
The ARV Awards recognise and reward outstanding achievement and commitment to the aquatic industry, and this year, LSV provided financial support for two award categories.
- Pool Lifeguard of the Year award, which was won by Simon Rohan-Jones from Yarra Leisure.
- Watch Around Water Facility of the Year award, which was won by AquaPulse Leisure for the second consecutive year.
General Manager – Public Training and Pool Safety Andy Denis said LSV was delighted to be once again involved in the awards.
“We see a lot of value in providing support through sponsorship to the ARV Awards as we believe it’s important to recognise the achievements of individuals and facilities who operate in our industry,” said Andy.
“LSV is proud to have been a long-standing supporter of this event, which grows year-on-year, and we look forward to continuing our support in the future.”
ARV received 155 nominations for individuals, facilities and programs in contention for the 20 awards and around 700 industry and council professionals attended the ceremony.
The Pool Lifeguard of the Year award recognises excellence and commitment to lifeguarding, including customer service, knowledge and skills relating to lifeguarding, interpersonal and leadership skills, commitment to safety and overall contribution to the facility. This year the category received ten nominations.
The Watch Around Water Facility of the Year award recognises excellence in the demonstration of the achievement of the objectives of the Watch Around Water program. This year the category received three nominations.
