Exciting opportunity for two talented Educators to join the LSV team in these newly created roles.  Developing and delivering innovative resources and engaging workshops and accredited training to the education sector and aquatic industry, to provide enriched swimming and water safety programs for students.

The Project Officer roles will complement one another and work closely to deliver quality outcomes for the education sector and aquatic industry.  One role requires a strong education skillset and one role requires a strong aquatic education skillset.

Life Saving Victoria is Victoria’s peak water safety and lifesaving organisation and is committed to its mission to prevent aquatic related death and injury across all Victorian communities.

The Port Melbourne State Centre is home to 70 fulltime staff, a function centre, training facility and key infrastructure that supports the delivery of our lifesaving, training and education services and supports over 400 seasonal staff, licensees, volunteer members and life saving clubs.

Key Selection Criteria

1. Project Officer – Swimming & Water Safety Education (Education)

Ideal candidate: this position would ideally suit a teacher with a strong understanding of the Victorian Curriculum.  You will have strong experience and passion for water safety and education.  You will be a team player with a friendly ‘can-do’ attitude and a willingness to ‘roll up your sleeves’ when needed.

Specific requirements:  you will be a Teacher currently registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).  You will have a good experience delivering lesson plans, assessments and teacher support material, with strong skills in stakeholder engagement.   You will have exemplary interpersonal and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively consult and work with a range of stakeholders to achieve beneficial outcomes.

Personal attributes: demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service and to overcome obstacles and ‘make things happen’. You will possess strong interpersonal and communication skill with the ability to adapt to the needs of the team. You will be detailed orientated, with demonstrated success in working to deadlines.

2.  Project Officer – Swimming & Water Safety Education (Aquatics)

Training Officer – Volunteer Member Training

LSV is a nationally recognised Registered Training Organisation (RTO) delivering Training and Assessment to our Volunteer Lifesavers through our large Volunteer Network.

Reporting to the Volunteer Training Manager, the Volunteer Training – Officer supports the development and maintenance of LSV organisational Training standards and policies within Lifesaving Clubs across Victoria through the provision of training delivery, support, monitoring and mentoring.

The roles primary focus is to provide support to our Life Saving clubs across the state, through ensuring RTO compliance processes are maintained and capability increased through the facilitation and mentoring of new and existing Trainers and Assessors, ensuring club self-sufficiency and sustainability.

Provide support to key stakeholders through collaboration, development of resources, support of compliance tasks and the administration of program, forums and workshops. To further build capacity at grass roots and state level and to identify opportunities to simplify processes and innovations.

Ideal candidate: this position would ideally suit a professional with exceptional organisational skills and demonstrated administrative experience. You will enjoy working with a diverse client base with a passion to educate and develop. You will be a team player with a friendly ‘can-do’ attitude and a passion for customer service excellence.

Specific requirements:  Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) and the ability to maintain current relevant qualifications and professional development evidence in line with ASQA / VET requirements and LSV structures.  You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to operate in a high pressure environment.  You will have a Learning and Development background, with a track record of innovation and continuous improvement.

Administration Coordinator –Volunteer Member Training

Project Coordinator – Archivist / Records Management

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated individual with strong skills in archiving and/or records management to join the Life Saving Victoria team in this fixed term contract to oversee the development and implementation of this important project. You will work across whole of business and support both staff and volunteers.

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated person to coordinate a new archiving project.   You will oversee the digitisation of LSV’s business and historical records, including printed materials, audio, visual and photographic media.  You will oversee the development of the framework, systems, documentation and training and work with a number of internal and external stakeholders to implement the new record management project

Key Selection Criteria;

Ideal candidate: this position would ideally suit a records / archiving coordinator with at least 3 years’ experience.  You will have good customer services and project coordination experience. You will have proven success in coordinating organisational archives, with a demonstrated suitable experience in change management in the context of information and records management

Specific requirements:  A Records and Information Management Diploma or equivalent experience in similar environment is preferred.  You will have previous experience as with the development of policy around the collection, retention, storage, cataloguing and destruction of physical and digital records, both from a regulatory and historical view point. You will have experience with cataloguing methods, developing and implementing of new systems including adaptation to new emerging technologies.   You will have proven success meeting deadlines, operating under pressure and be comfortable multitasking, your time management skills will be highly developed.

Opportunities exist for energetic and passionate individuals to educate participants in LSV’s key water safety program.

You will supervise and instruct participants (ranging from the ages of 6 to 18) for Life Saving Victoria’s (LSV) community and school based education programs, ensuring an understanding of key messages are delivered in an enthusiastic, professional and safe manner.

Programs are delivered across metro Melbourne (Sorrento – Geelong) beaches, pools, classrooms and inland waterways, with some flexibility for instructors to work preferred venues, shift times and days to fit in with other commitments (work, study, club duties, family, etc.).

Shifts are available predominantly during school hours from October to December & February to late March. Weekend and regional work is also available as well as further opportunities throughout the year.

To succeed in this role you will have lifesaving coaching skills and experiences relevant to developing athletes. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to develop successful relationships with external stakeholders, clubs and athletes.

We seek motivated, proactive thinkers, with strong leadership qualities who enjoy working in a team environment.  The successful applicant will have sound knowledge of Life Saving Victoria, with demonstrated willingness to embrace and uphold Life Saving Victoria core values, strong team leadership, athlete development and communication skills, and a flexible, “can do” attitude.

A high level experience and performance as an athlete and/or a proven coaching record at a high level in lifesaving sport is essential with Level 1 SLSA Coaching Qualification. Current Victorian Driver’s License and a Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain one is essential. You will need to be available for regular weekends and regional travel will be required.

The roles are contract and based on the number of sessions provided between July 2018 and November 2018.  Session plans / back up plans and self evaluation of sessions is required for these roles with the plans to be made available to all participating athletes.
